Never Let Me Go ---Don't Bother (Fajita highlights)

Last night's Reading Btw The Wine Bookclub get together was held at Amy Collier-Ewert's(Ewert with a loooong "e") beautiful abode. I wish everyone ("everyone" being those who were MIA) could have seen what a wonderful job Chris and Amy have done with their home. Of course, I had never been to the house before but after listening to Amy describe what they tore down and what they added I can only imagine what they must have gone through to end up with such a amazing home.
Speaking of amazing, Chris's fajitas were amazing. He had a huge spread set out for us. There was steamed fajita chicken and marinated mushrooms along with Mexican rice and black beans. He had shredded cheese and sour cream along with shredded lettuce and cut up tomatoes. I brought store made salsa and guacamole along with strawberry and angel food cups for dessert. Amanda supplied chocolate and Ellen added to the choco-holics fix with some yummy looking cookies. Sheri has promised to share her rice or cous cous (not sure what it was) recipe with everyone as her dish was delish.

It wasn't just all about the eating, though. It is just close to lunch time and food is on my mind. We did discuss the book for a bit. I think the consensus was that we would recommend one of the many good books, that we have read, before we would recommend Never Left Behind.
This, of course, led to the recommending of the good books that we have read, lately. Amy really liked one of the books that Sara Feulner had suggested as a "good read". At the time of this recounting, I can't remember the name so you will just have to go back, in the blog, and look for it or Sara could repost. =)
I recommended my latest read on which, if I can find the time, want to write up a summary. The book is called Freakonmics by Steven Levitz. (I won't swear to either of those spellings). Great thought provoking read.
It was another great bookclub night. The evening was filled with good eats, nice conversation and time well spent with some wonderful ladies.

Also- Good luck to Amanda on Monday's Jack's Generic! I know you are going to kick tail!

Never Let Me Go...Personally I don't get this title

How often do you read a book and you just can't figure out how the title fits with the book? I just finished a book about a month ago called Violets Are Blue by James Patterson. Quick review....2.5 outta 5 stars. A "If you have too much time on your hands" read. The point is, the book had nothing to do with flowers. I think it mentions the title, in a sentence, once. The book was basically about these phsyco killers who think they are vampires and a detective who is trying to catch them. If standing at the airport, looking for a book, I would have thought it was a romantic novel.
Back to Never Let Me Go. If you have read it then you may agree, the title makes no sense. What about something more reflective of the book like....The Hilisham Children or Not Always As it Seems. I'm not the most clever person in the world but, seriously, I think either of those would be better than Never Let Me Go. That makes me think it is some sort of a tragic love story. The book might be tragic (Sara would say that reading this book is tragic) and it might have love but tragic love....I don't think so.
So, here is my silly game for our next meeting (time, place and date to come) come up with a new title for this book. We wont' vote or decide whose is better but it will give each of us an inkling to what you gleaned from reading the book.
