Power of The Dog...who actually read it?

So, it looks like Power of the Dog was just a little more popular than The Magus. I think of the five of us that showed up, Sheri, Sara, Charlotte, Amanda and myself, only Sara and Amanda read the book.
I will say I at least picked up the right copy from the library.
As few of us actually read it there was little discussion. Not to mention, we were missing Amy who was the "invisible" hostess for the evening. (You were missed, Amy)
The location was good, though. I guess the Hula Hut is not as popular in the winter months as in the summer which worked out great for us.
Everyone brought a book idea and we drew numbers to see who would hostess in what order. So, here are the books we will be reading for the next 6 sessions. (thanks to Sara for sending to me via her Blackberry)
1. Reading Lolita in Tehran, Azar Nafisi (Charlotte)
2. Lolita, Vladimir Nabakov (Sheri)
3. Two Moons by Thomas Mallon (Marla)
4. The Last Season, Eric Blehm (Amanda)
5. Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth (Sara)
6. The Pillars of Earth by Ken Follett (Theresa)

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. If you have any holiday reading ideas, feel free to post in the comment box. I just read The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz. You will only like this book if you are die hard dog lover and a semi-sorta believer in the spiritual realm. I also listened to The Screw Tape letters by CS Lewis. It was great but a bit heavy if you want to keep it light.

We will see eachother next year!

Happy Holidays,
Marla
